Lead Capture

Collect email subscribers directly from your Surface page.

What is a lead capture block?

A lead capture block adds an email signup form to your Surface page. Visitors can enter their email address and subscribe to your list without leaving the page. It is one of the most powerful ways to turn casual visitors into long-term followers.

Setting up your form

Click the + button in the builder and select Email Capture. You can customize several parts of the form:

  • Title -- the heading visitors see above the form (e.g., "Stay in the loop").
  • Description -- optional supporting text that explains what subscribers will receive.
  • Button Label -- the text on the submit button (e.g., "Subscribe" or "Sign me up").
  • Consent Text -- the legal consent message displayed alongside a checkbox, letting subscribers know what they are agreeing to.

Opt-in modes

You can choose between two opt-in modes:

  • Single opt-in -- the subscriber is added to your list immediately after submitting the form.
  • Double opt-in -- the subscriber receives a confirmation email and must click a link to verify their address before being added. This is the recommended option because it produces a higher-quality list.

Success message

After a visitor subscribes, the form is replaced with a confirmation message. You can customize both the success title and the success description to match your voice and let subscribers know what to expect next.

Where collected emails go

Email addresses collected through lead capture blocks are stored in your Surface account. You can view and export your subscriber list from your dashboard to import into your preferred email marketing platform.

When to use lead capture

Lead capture blocks are ideal for:

  • Newsletter signups -- grow your mailing list from your bio link.
  • Product launch lists -- collect interested subscribers before a release.
  • Exclusive content -- offer early access or special updates in exchange for an email.
  • Community building -- stay connected with your audience beyond social media algorithms.

Place your lead capture block where visitors are most likely to engage -- after your best content, or near the top of your page for maximum visibility.
