Profile Header

Set up your display name, bio, and avatar image in the Surface builder.

The first thing visitors see

Your profile header sits at the top of your Surface page. It includes your display name, a short bio, and your avatar image. This is the section that introduces you to anyone who lands on your page, so it is worth spending a few minutes getting it right.

Setting your display name

Click on the profile header block in the canvas to open its settings. Your display name is the large text at the top of your page. It can be your real name, your brand name, a username -- whatever you want people to recognize you by.

Writing your bio

The bio field sits just below your display name. You have a few lines to tell visitors who you are and what you do. Keep it concise and direct.

Tips for a strong bio

  • Lead with what you do. "Photographer based in Austin" is more useful than a vague greeting.
  • Keep it short. One to two sentences is plenty. Visitors are scanning, not reading an essay.
  • Include a call to action. Tell people what to do next -- "Book a session," "Shop the latest drop," or "Listen to my new single."

Uploading your avatar

Click the avatar area in the settings panel to upload an image. Square images work best since the avatar displays as a circle. Use a clear photo or logo that looks good at small sizes. Your avatar appears alongside your name and bio, helping visitors instantly connect your page to your brand or identity.
